Frequently Asked Questions: Thailand Visas & Work Permits

A visa authorizes your stay in Thailand, while a work permit legally allows you to perform work. Most foreigners need both documents to work legally in the Kingdom. The visa comes first (typically a Non-Immigrant B visa), followed by the work permit application.

No. You must first obtain a Non-Immigrant visa (typically type B) before applying for a work permit. We can assist with converting your status if you’re currently on a tourist visa.

You must be 50+ years old and show either 800,000 THB in a Thai bank account (maintained for at least 2 months prior to application and throughout your stay), a monthly income of at least 65,000 THB, or a combination of the two totaling 800,000 THB annually.

Typically 2-4 weeks after receiving your Non-Immigrant B visa, assuming all documentation is in order. Our expedited service can sometimes reduce this timeframe.

Thailand has introduced the LTR visa with digital work permit options for qualifying remote workers. Traditional tourist visas do NOT permit any work, including remote work for foreign employers. We can assess your situation and recommend the most appropriate legal pathway.

Requirements generally include:

  • Passport (valid for at least 6 months)
  • Educational certificates
  • Professional certificates/licenses (if applicable)
  • Employment contract
  • Company documentation (registration, tax ID, financial statements)
  • Photos (size 3x4cm, white background)
  • Completed application forms

Our service includes a comprehensive document checklist tailored to your specific situation.
